SELECTED BIOGRAPHY
Jan Neil was born in Hobart, Tasmania.
She studied Commercial Art at the Hobart Technical College then Fine Art at
the Bendigo Institute of Technology in 1972 - 75.
It was during her study at Bendigo that she first commenced silkscreen printing.
On cimpletion of this course she taught with Adult Education and co-established
Gallery Aesthete. In 1980 she re-located to Melbourne and co-established the
Elgin Gallery with Douglas Cameron.
Since leaving the gallery in the early 80s, Jan has worked full time as
an artist, exhibiting in various mediums. In 1989 she changed solely to image
making through the silkscreen process, and currently works in her studio in
Melbourne.
